because I love U

Your Life, Your Legacy

Why doing this?

I can think of three reasons:

  1. Help our loved ones not to repeat the mistakes we have made.

Personal experience carries, in theory, more weight than sharing with your loved ones the experience of others. Regardless of how interesting, good, or bad our lives could have been in the past, we all can share.

  1. Letting our kids profit from our experience.

As we get older, we are exposed to so many things.  You don’t have to go through every experience / situation in order to learn. Fortunately, this is not possible. One can (and should) learn from other people’s experiences, advice, attitudes, etc.

This experience is knowledge, and you don’t want this knowledge to be lost. Your children deserve the benefit of a lifetime of experience. It is up to them how much they use your knowledge while forming their own. However, this process cannot start if you don’t do your share.

  1. Help our children know themselves by knowing who you are (or were):

This is a little trickier than the previous two but no less important. Assuming for a moment that our kids do not agree with anything we might share, years go by, they become adults and at some point might ask themselves questions like: “Who was my father?”, “What did my mother really think”, “Why did my parents act the way they did?”, and therefore: “Why am I the way I am and why do I think the way I do?”.
