The year was 2000. My son was 3 and my daughter 1 year old. Even though I am now what many could consider a successful professional, at that time I went through a long period of unemployment. This was a very difficult time in my life (not being able to put bread on our table to say the least) but on the bright side, it forced me to reevaluate my priorities and focus on what really matters.

Even when it was clear that my job as a provider was just starting, I realized that even if I was a millionaire, if for whatever reason I died (a pretty strong word, but let’s call things as they are), my mission as a father was going to be very much incomplete.

Not only was I not to be able to join my family in the small and big events of their life but also, and most importantly, I was not going to be able to provide my guide or share my experiences and thoughts.

I began writing not because death was a dominant thought in my mind, but on the contrary, I did this out of love.
